Prayer-School Course #31

Thoughts From Teresa

By Teresa Seputis

Brief Introduction

I started to write a teaching series on the prayers of Jesus about a month ago, because I knew that the current series was ending and we would need a new one to replace it. I planned to teach on Jesus' own prayer life (as well as on what He taught on prayer), as that topic was of great interest to me. I did most of the research and learned some neat things from it. But when I sat down to actually write the lessons, the Lord began to direct my efforts elsewhere. He asked me to spend my time and energy on other things, leaving the series unwritten.

As the weeks progressed, I felt more and more concerned that I needed a new teaching series. I even asked the Lord to either give me time and motivation to write this teaching series, or else to provide a series from some other source. But God did not feel that He had to do either of those two things. Anytime I mentioned it to Him, all He would say to me was "trust Me."

I decided to trust Him instead of trying to force myself to write lessons when I did feel the anointing to write. I obeyed God and put my time/energy where He directed me. But I was still mindful of the fast approaching deadline and the need for a new teaching series. Each time I brought it up with the Lord, all He would say was "Trust Me." The next thing I knew, it was Sunday morning, the day before the new teaching series was due to start. And I did not have a teaching series ready to go.

In my prayers that morning, I told God that I had trusted Him and now I was in a jam. I asked Him what should I do about it and asked Him to give me some idea of what He wanted to do on the prayer-school. Then I went to church, and that is where God chose to speak to me about it. It was right in the middle of worship. God told me that I did not need to have a whole teaching series prepared; that each week for the next several weeks He would speak to me and show me what to write about, and that would become the lesson for that week. I am not positive what topics we will cover or how long the series will go -- God hasn't told me that yet.

Normally I prepare and HTML format all of the lessons before the first lesson is sent out. So this series is a lesson in faith for me. I am trusting God to show me what to write each week instead of having a complete teaching series ready to present to you. I have no idea how long this will last and I don't even know what topics we will cover.
