Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share a bit of testimony with you all, because I am so excited at the things the Lord is doing in my life. About ten years ago, I received a personal prophetic word, saying that the Lord had put his word inside me, and I could be released to share the words that he gave me and see other people set free. I have treasured that word in my heart, and have brought it back before the Lord many times over the years, and wondered when I would see its fulfilment.

During the last few months, I have begun to see the Lord use me prophetically, and I have been so thrilled that he could use me in that way. Ever since renewal started for me and I was plunged into the love of Jesus in a totally new way, I have had a hunger for a deeper intimacy with Jesus. I can say that he has heard that cry in my heart, and is continually drawing me closer and closer to him. But the testimony I want to share today is concerned with hearing the voice of God in my own heart, prompting me to particular actions or praying in a specific way.

The other day, I was about to leave for work at about 6:15am GMT, (in London, UK), and the Lord prompted me to pray for Teresa in California. In particular, he prompted me to pray for her protection on her way to work later that day (there is 8 hours between GMT and PST). At least that is what I thought at the time. I prayed as I left home to go to work. When I had almost reached the station, I was about to cross the road, the traffic lights were showing it safe to cross, and for some reason, (I believe it was the voice of the Lord), I hesitated and checked again to see a speeding car heading in my direction. It jumped the red light, narrowly missing me and another pedestrian. I realised that the Lord had protected me from possible serious injury.

Later that day, I heard from Teresa. She told me she had been coming home late from work between 10:00 and 10:30 pm PST, in a dangerous part of town, and had felt she was in danger. She had quickly gone back to her car, and had reached home safely at about 10:30 pm. I realised at that point that I had not been praying for her safety going TO work the next day, but coming FROM work, even as I was praying. The way the Lord spoke to me about this has really brought home to me the truth - God really does speak to me, and I really can hear him!

In some ways this seems so obvious, even to me, but to have it demonstrated like that was such an encouragement to my faith.

Oh Lord, thank you that hearing your voice is not complicated. Thank you that we don't have to struggle and strain to hear you speaking to us, but as we live our whole lives focussed on you, Jesus, you are glad to speak to us, not just at special times, but all the time, as we live our daily lives. Thank you Jesus that you care about everything that happens to us, and that you link our lives together with one another in an amazing way at times. Lord make us ready to hear your voice and move in obedience to the things you say to us.

Blessings,

Sue van Rooyen
