Announcing: Ministering At The Altar

The Healing School Training Mini-Course Series... a series of short classes and (teaching and discussion) that will be offered on the healing-school list. Various members of the leadership core will teach short courses on a topic relevent to praying for the sick and seeing God heal them.

Course Contents/Description:

This is a practical teaching on ministering to people in a church service ministry session, as individuals come for ministry with various types of prayer needs. This teaching series is an exerpt from the Ministry team training at Rodney's church.

The series examines how people receive their healing, including their ability to adapt to whatever physical and emotional infirminity they have. Some people develop a subconscious mindset of lies about why they will not be healed. The teaching explains how to identify and address that issue. The series also identifies the stages of spiritual growth that all believers go through, explaining how God deals with people to help bring them to emotional and spiritual health and maturity. It explains how to facilitate this process during the ministry session instead of inadvertently working against it.

Then the series talks about the difference between the person's perceived prayer needs and their real prayer need. In other words, the person may come up with one agenda but God may want to minister to them in another manner. They may come up wanting to be healed of stomach pain, but it may be that God wants to set them free from emotional pain instead. The series talks about how to address the percieved needs, but at the same time to be spirit led to discern what God desires to do in this ministry session. It also addresses the various types of "real" needs that a person may have when they come up for prayer: salvation, physical healing, deliverance, emotional healing, agreement regarding God's breakthrough in a difficult family or financial situation, etc. The teaching series gives practical suggestions and guidelines of how to minister in each of these situations. It also covers "blessing what the Lord is doing" once you have prayed everything you know to pray but sense the Lord is still ministering to the person.

Then the series "shifts gears" and talks about how God desires to anoint or empower empower each believer to be effective in ministering with Him. It discusses, in great detail, how to receive an anointing for ministry.

(The "Healing-School" list will continue to function as it has been with other discussion as well, centered around topics pertaining to praying for the sick and seeing them healed; but in addition to the "regular stuff" we will be giving and receiving feedback about the information contained in each weeks teaching article.)
