A little over a year ago God started directing me to write a book on how to hear His voice. I told Him that I could not do it because I did not have any contacts to get it published. He spoke this instruction to me personally and then He kept repeating it to me in a bunch of prophesies ... all telling me to write a book. But I kept putting it off because I had no idea how to go about get it published. It seemed like an impossible command to me.

About 5 months later.. can you believe this!!! .. the director of new product development of a major publishing house contacted me. At the time they were called Creation House Publishers and they put out some really outstanding books! They have just changed their name to Charisma House Publishers. They asked me if I would be interested in writing a book for them on ... you guessed it ... how to hear God's voice!

I was astonished and I knew it had to be God. (Usually authors have to work hard to get publishers to look at their finished books, rather than having a publisher contact you and ask you write one for them.) This particular publishing house views their work as a ministry and prayerfully seeks God for direction on each project. They felt that God told them to contact me about writing this book. (I guess God was actively working on both ends! He was telling me to write a book and telling them to ask me to write it!) When God commands us to do the impossible, He supplies the where-with-all to do what He commands!

It was an incredible experience writing this. The Holy Spirit would tend to dwell over me as I wrote. There was a very strong anointing and sense of His presence most times that I sat down to write. I had one or two difficult sessions, but most of the time my writing sessions felt more like a renewal meeting than like work. A few times I was so overcome with His presence that I had to stop writing and just go worship and pray.

I actually finished the book on Nov 1 of last year. Then there were a couple of editing revisions and miscellaneous other things I had to do for the publishers. The book was scheduled to come out on the market on March 23 (today). At the time, it seemed so far away. Somehow it just did not all seem real. I got busy with other things and did not think about the book much.

Now it really is March 23. To tell you the truth, I had completely forgotten about the book. About noon, the Lord spoke to me and reminded me of it. (Can you imagine that after all that I forgot that today was the day that the book came out!!) So I called the publisher and they gave me a URL to where my book was on their online bookstore.. and I got to see the a picture of the front cover for the first time on their www page .. with my name on it as Author!! (I had seen two drastically different WIP versions, but had never seen the final one.) Suddenly it became real to me that God really did bring this to completion! First He asked me to do the impossible, then He supplied the means to do it, and then He provided so much anointing for the task that it was a delight to do it!

I think there is a lesson for each of us from my experience on this book: If God commands you do something that seems really big or really impossible to you.. don't "sweat the small stuff"! Don't tell Him why you can't do it.. just ask Him to show you what miracles He is working to make it possible for you to do what He commands. When God commands, He makes the way to obey!
