Much as been said recently on the prophetic-school about the coming storm and I wanted to share a testimony of God's faithfulness to speak to me about His Hand of protection during the storms of life not only to us, but to our loved ones.
Life has been kind of stormy the past few months. But I have sensed God telling me He in His mercy has allowed this, so that He only will be my foundation, my Rock of refuge. My family was on vacation last week in Destin, Florida. On Friday night at 2:00 a.m., I was awakened by a loud banging noise and the sound of fierce wind. A huge storm was going on outside. I had never heard such wind. It felt like the whole condo was shaking. I walked into the living room and my husband was awake listening to the weather channel. He said he was looking for reports of tornadoes.
I looked outside and lights were turning on in the other condo's with people looking out their windows. I fully expected to see cars in the parking lot being thrown against each other the wind was so fierce. In the past, storms have really scared me, but this time I prayed to the Father, asking Him what was going on. Immediately, I felt His Presence in a strong way. Such peace came over me, and I felt a burning in my belly. The scripture that comes to mind is John 7:38-" He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water."
Then verse by verse, the Holy Spirit brought Psalm 91 to my mind. I won't quote it all here, but it begins, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust!" I knew that we were safe, despite what was going on inside and felt led to pray God's hand of protection over my members of my family who I knew were in Mississippi and Alabama at this time. The storms had gone through those states previous to hitting Florida.
The next morning we found out that indeed a tornado had touched down near Pensacola. Along the freeway, huge signs were twisted and on their sides. Then we heard a news report about the storm causing terrible damage in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. My mother (who is widowed) lives there and my husband suggested that we call her. She told us that the night of the storm she had decided to go spend the night at a close friend of hers who was sick. My mother never spends the night away from home. She lives in a large home by herself. The next morning, she had a hard time reaching her home because of all the trees and power lines down. Once home, she found that a large pine tree had fallen directly on top of her bedroom. The tree did not go through the ceiling, but had created a lot of damage to the roof.
It was an incredible testimony to her of God's faithfulness. My mother said that if she had been home, she would have been in her bedroom reading at that time. God knew how scary that would have been for her, as all her children were out of town on vacation. The noise of the tree hitting above her would have terrified her. Also all the power had gone off. He had arranged for her to be somewhere else to protect her from that trauma.
I felt like God was saying and this was confirmed through a prophetic friend of mine, that He wanted me to take Psalm 91 to heart. That no matter what was going on around me, that He was my refuge and fortress. That I was not to be afraid of the "terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day".
I felt so blessed that He gave me this object lesson, and that He showed me His loving hand of protection over my mother. I just wanted to share this this with all of you.
In Him there is no darkness at all - only light. May we all learn to abide in Him in such a way, that no matter what is going on around us, we will abide in in the shelter of the Most High.
Many blessings,
Lucy
