                          The Vein of Gold

I saw a vein of gold in the rock deep inside a mine shaft.  It was buried 
deep and the excavation took a great deal of time and effort.  And then, 
there it was, this brilliant gold finally uncovered in the rock.  It was 
so beautiful and the contrast between it, the life of it, compared to the 
grey featureless cold rock that entombed it made the gold even more 
beautiful.  I could literally see a pick being driven into the vein.  It 
sunk into the malleable metal, so different from a pick striking rock which 
impact shatters the stone.  The pick sunk deep. It seemed like it was a 
foot across and a foot deep and a chunk of the metal was dislodged by the 
blow, a chunk of pure gold.  It was so beautiful and so valuable.  

And the word of the Lord came to me:  

"I have placed a vein of pure gold in each of you at salvation.  I want 
you to mine what I have placed in you.  As you study My word,  you will 
know the truth, His treasure becomes as pure gold.  Savor Him, but then 
spend Him, give Him away, for to those who have more will be given.  
Mine the treasure that is yours at salvation, the value of Him, the 
expanse of Him, the beauty of Him, the power of Him.  He is of inestimable 
value."
