                    Your Expectations

Dear child, don't let your expectations get in the way of trusting Me.

The children of Israel said that they trusted Me to bring them out of 
bondage and into their promised land. But they expected Me to do it a 
different way than how I choose to do it...and their wrong expectations
impacted their ability to put their trust in Me. They started with some
measure of trust, but it disappeared the instant they saw an army chasing 
them from behind a and a giant sea in front of them blocking their escape 
route. 

Despite their lack of faith, I proved Myself faithful. I made a way for 
them and I took care of them. I did a great and mighty miracle to 
deliver them from their enemies and to give them a powerful testimony.
And for the moment, they came to trust Me again, because they had
experienced My great faithfulness.

But their trust disappeared the instant they ran out of water. I already
had a plan in place to take care of them, and I fully intended to supply 
their needs. But they did not consult Me, they did not ask Me what I 
intended to do for them. They did not even cry out to Me to ask Me to 
help them. Instead, they took back their trust and falsely accused Me 
of being unfaithful.

So, you ask, how could they stop trusting so quickly after I had done
such a great miracle for them? It was because they put their focus on 
their circumstances instead of focusing on Me. But even more so, it was 
because the way I chose to take care of them was different than how 
they assumed I would do it. And their wrongful expectations were a huge 
stumbling block to them--one that prevented them from learning to trust 
Me. Even after I provided water for them out of a rock, they still did 
to trust Me. They revered back to their lack of faith at the very next 
challenge, and at every one after that until I finally decreed that they 
would wander in the desert for 40 years instead of possessing their 
promised land. That generation missed their destiny because of wrong 
expectations. Don't let that same thing happen to you.

Child, if you want to walk in the fullness of the destiny that I have 
chosen for you, you are going to heave to learn to trust Me. Do not 
allow your expectations to get in the way and become a stumbling block 
to you. Trust that I know what I am doing, even when you do not. Trust 
that just because My way is different than what you expected, I am still 
actively at work on your behalf and I will take good care of you.	

Do not be like the children of Israel in the wilderness. Do not allow 
wrong expectations to hinder you from trusting Me.
