God promised household salvation to the Philippean jailer in Acts 16:31. He has made that same promise to many of us. I remember how God made that promise to me personally. It was October of 1993. My "unsaved" grandmother had been senile and in a rest home for many years. She died and I was standing beside her casket at the funeral parlor. No one else was in the room. I prayed for God to raise her from the dead. Nothing happened. I cried for a bit and sat down and then went back to the casket. "Lord," I asked, "I have been praying for years that she would accept Jesus before she died. Did that happen? Is she in heaven with You?"
"You really don't want to know, Teresa" The Lord replied.
I argued and begged God to tell me for a good half hour, standing beside her open casket the whole time. Finally He gave in and told me, "Teresa, her heart was hardened and she did not accept Jesus.. she is in Hell."
Goodness! I was sobered and sadness flooded me. God was right, I really did not want to know. I thought about the rest of my relatives... my husband and mother and Father... all unsaved.
"What about the rest of my family, Lord!?" I cried.
That was when God promised me household salvation. I remember standing by my grandmothers casket and being told that this was the last close unsaved relative I would bury. It was sad, but also comforting.
Little did I know that three years later I would be burying my father.. who accepted Christ just days before he died. Dad's brother flew in from out of town to come to the funeral. He had always been a mean and selfish man who I did not like to be around. I had to pick him up at the airport and drive him to the hotel.. and he was such a different person!! I could not believe it.. he was gentle and patient and kind. I remember wondering to myself what caused this change.. then he began to talk to me about Jesus and witness to me.. Uncle Dan did not know I was a Christian and he began trying to lead me to the Lord.. and then rejoiced when he found out I knew Jesus. He had only been a believer a year and what a change God had made in his life!
Then God spoke to me and said that uncle Dan was the firstfruit of my family coming into the kingdom and reminded me of His promise of household salvation at my grandmother's funeral.
I know God is faithful and will keep that promise. My mom and husband don't know Jesus yet, but I am confident that they will. In the past three months, several people (most of whom do not know me) have given me prophetic words that my husband is about to come into the kingdom. There have also been several prophecies that this is the year that believers will see many unsaved family members come into the kingdom. It is time to pray and call them in...
Please join me in prayer regarding this... If you have unsaved love ones, pray and believe for their salvation... If you are blessed with a saved family, please join me in praying for your bothers and sister's in the Lord who still have unsaved loved ones..
Lord, thank You that You are a God who keeps His word and thank You that it is NOT your will for any to perish. That you for your promise to many of us that we will see our loved ones come to know Jesus. Lord we lift our loved ones to you now and ask that you work in their hearts and reveal yourself to them.
Now, through the power and authority of the risen Lord Jesus Christ, we take authority over the spirits and principalities that would blind them to the Good News of the Gospel and we cancel your assignment against them.
Lord, loose your light and your truth on them. Manifest yourself to them. Allow them to taste and see that you are good.. bring them to know You and love You and serve You. Please shine your light into their lives and dispel all darkness that would keep them from knowing you. Bring our unsaved loved ones into your Kingdom.
We ask this in Jesus' precious name. Amen
