[Normally this list does not recognize national holidays because
there are people from a lot of different countries on this list,
and we are all "one in Christ." I originally had a different word
selected for today. But when I woke up this morning, the Lord
put this strongly on my heart, and told me to release it today.

While it is directed specifically to the United States, I believe
that the Holy Spirit will also speak to many who live in other
nations, because the theme of choosing to become dependent on God
is relevant for all of us.]

                     Dependence Day

The forth of July is the day when the United States celebrates its
independence from both tyranny and oppression. That is a good thing,
because I do not want any of My people to live under oppression. But
there is a false "spirit of independence" that has come over many in
this nation, to the point of great rebellion against Me and My ways.
This spirit will lead you back into oppression and darkness, it will
cause you great misery and not great joy.

I want My people to become dependent on Me instead of "independent,"
for it is in Me that they will find rest, peace, happiness and
prosperity.

Many don't realize this, but every man submits himself to a master--
either to Myself or to the evil one. My plans for you are good; they
are a hope and a future, peace and joy. The evil one's plans for you
are deceiving. At first they seem to bring "happiness," but it is a
false happiness that is just a cloak for oppression and misery. It is
like narcotics or alcoholism--at first it brings an escape from your
problems which "feels" like happiness. But in the end there is
addiction, misery, sickness, harm, and often death.

People in the United States, you stand today at a crossroad and face
a choice--which master will you serve? I urge each of you to choose to
follow Me, and in doing so you will find true freedom--freedom from
condemnation, oppression, sickness and death. But if you persist in
following this "independent" spirit of rebellion, you will find
yourselves in captivity to it; you will end up living in fear, misery
and lack, facing uncertainty and despair.

Dear ones, I have come to set you free, but in order to be truly free,
you must give up this false independence and choose to become dependent
on Me.
