Enlarge Your Capacity To Receive

As I was doing my devotions in the first few chapters of 2 Kings, the Lord spoke to me strongly from the story of the priest's widow (2 Kings 4:1-7). Verse 6 popped out at me - God's abundant out pouring of His oil. Notice that the oil did not stop until the widow simply had no more capacity to receive it. Then the Lord gave me this word....

I, even I the Lord God Almighty, will continue to pour out My Spirit upon you for as long as you make room to receive it. My word to you now is to enlarge your capacity to receive. At first you were so thirsty. Many of you have received some of My refreshing and now you think that you are full. But I am not done with you and you must not be done with Me. You must enlarge your capacity to receive and allow Me to continue to pour into you. Am I not the God of abundance? Will I not provide for you pressed down, shaken together and overflowing? Look to my servant Elijah. When the journey was too great for him, I provided for him to eat and drink for him to drink. At first he did not receive of my abundance and stopped when he thought he was full. But I sent My angel a second time to give him more -- for I knew what was ahead of him. I knew what he needed, and I provided it and he received it. And the strength of it carried him 40 days.

Likewise you must receive what I am now providing to you. I know what is ahead for you, what I am calling you to. I choose to provide for you, so that you will go in My strength and not be weak or faint.

But you must choose to receive what I am giving you. Do not refuse to eat because you think that you are full. Do not refuse to drink because you do not feel thirsty. Lay aside your pride and seek Me with your whole being. I have much more to pour out on you. But if you will not receive it, I will cut off My supply; just as I cut off the widow's supply when she had no more jars into which I could pour My blessing.

Receive from Me, for I would pour out My abundance on you. Enlarge your capacity to receive, for I am not yet done with you.
