Cross Vision
I had an interesting vision during my devotions one day. I was deep in
prayer when suddenly I saw a rugged wooden cross in the middle of my
family room. Now, I am not the neatest of all housekeepers, but I knew
that cross was not a part of my household furniture. As I looked at it,
it transposed into a wooden staff, like the type that Moses would have
carried. There was a large gem in the staff right where the horizontal
piece of the cross had been when the staff was a cross. The gem was
brilliant and began to glow. After I looked at the gem for some period
of time, I was able to see images inside of it. The images were various
images of crowns and then of some demonic looking things. The demons
were "frozen" like they were statues, unable to move and not at all
threatening or scary.
The image remained in my family room for about four or five minutes,
then it disappeared. I began asking God for an interpretation. This is
what I got...
The cross, of course, represents what Jesus did for us on Calvary, in
dying for us and rising from the dead to gain authority over sin and
death. The staff represents authority and also God's power. Moses was
God's appointed leader to deliver the children of Israel from bondage.
The staff was involved in many of Moses' miracles -- it became a snake when
he threw it on the ground and it swallowed up the snakes that the magicians
produced. The water turned to blood when Moses passed his staff over it.
Moses struck the stone with the staff and water gushed out for the thirsty
Israelites. So the staff represents the power and authority of God, which
Jesus won back for us on Calvary and gave to us.
The gem is the treasure (or true riches) of God, released to us through
Jesus, which is why it was located in the center of the intersection of
the two pieces of wood that comprise the cross. I understand those "true
riches" to be the power of God to heal the sick, perform miracles and do
the things that Jesus did (John 14:12-14). The things inside of the jewel
were the things we have been given authority over, the demonic realm. I
take that to mean that we need to be taking authority over the demonic
realm, such as spirits of infirmity and curses if we want to see the
healings and miracles.
The thing that was particularly significant to me in this vision was that
all of this happened right in my family room, right where I was. It was
not off in Africa, it was not off in Brazil.
So I am taking the interpretation of this vision to mean that God wants
to meet us where we are to release the power and authority of the
resurrection into our lives. But if we want to see this operate in the
healing of the sick, the setting free of captives and the performing of
miracles, we need to take up the authority that Jesus has won for us and
use it to do with God what He is doing. It is like God is standing there
saying, "OK, here it is. What are you going to do with it?"
I hope our answer, as the body of Christ, will be, "Lord we are going to
take it up and use the authority You have given us to bind the power
of Satan and to do with You what You are doing."
