                           O Canada!

INTRODUCTION:

The Lord has been stirring this word in me for over 3 days now. It began
on Friday, when pieces of the Canadian national anthem began running
through my head. Please understand--I am an American and I don't know
the Canadian national anthem. I heard it sung at hockey games a few 
times when I attend a local game and Canadian team visits, but I don't
really know the words to it at all.

Despite that, two pieces of the anthem began playing over and over 
again in my mind's ear. I mean, I could hear the melody, I could hear 
the music and the words were clear and distinct. I knew the song was 
not coming from some external source, it was "playing" in my mind. 
This went on for hours. 

The first part was: 

   O Canada, our home and native land
   True patriot love in all thy sons command
   With glowing hearts we see thee rise
   The true north strong and free

And the other part was

   God keep our land glorious and free.
   O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
   O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

After about an hour of hearing this song, I asked the Lord if He had 
anything to do with this. He told me "Yes." Then He began to stir a 
prophetic word in me for Canada. (The way that stirring works in me 
is that I get bits and pieces of the word, but not the whole thing. 
I often forget many of those bits and pieces and the Lord brings 
them back to me again.) This stirring went on for three days, and the
Canadian national anthem continued to play in my mind's ear throughout 
the weekend. 

My husband (born and raised in Canada) caught me singing phrases of 
it, and started to tell me a story of how the anthem changed. When he 
was a little boy, it used to be "God save the king (or queen)" 
depending on the sex of England's ruling monarch. When Canada was 
granted independence and sovereignty, it was changed to "God keep 
our land...."

So finally this morning (Monday), the Lord released me to share the
word that He was stirring. It is a simple word, but it is an important
one. I sat down at the computer to write it out. After I'd already 
written most of the Word (enclosed below) the Lord directed me to go 
the internet and look up the rest of the words to the Canadian 
national anthem. It turns out that only one phrase was missing from 
what the Lord had been playing in my head. The line was: "From far 
and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee."

Then God spoke to me and said that this is the part that is missing
from the Canadian Church--standing together to pray for their nation.
He is calling believers from all over the nation to join together to 
intercede (or stand guard) for Canada.

Here is the prophetic word that came out of this.

PROPHETIC WORD:

                           O Canada!

The nation of Canada is at a critical point in it's development. It
is standing at a crossroads, about to choose the path that the nation
will walk down for the next several generations. One path will lead 
to prosperity and blessings, but the other path (which looks attractive
to many) will lead to destruction and despair. And the Lord has put 
the power within His people to determine which path their nation will
choose. He has given them authority in prayer and intercession, but 
they must stand and use it before it is too late!

The enemy of all nations has had it's eye on Canada for some time,
and has many spiritual forces in place, ready to sweep in and build
strongholds of evil in this nation. They have not been able to gain
the access they desired before, because of solid foundations laid 
long by believers and godly men and women. But those foundations of
righteousness have been weakening over time, and now they are at
the place where the enemy is ready to challenge them.

A wave of corruption and hedonism is going to sweep in from the 
south, if Canadian believers do not stand up in prayer and challenge 
it. This is the same wave that swept through the United States some 
years before and crumbled that nation's foundations of righteousness.
Now it wants to move north and expand its territory by doing the same
thing there. There is also a wave of oppression and lack that is going 
to sweep across the ocean from the northernmost part of Russia, which 
will fuel many people's desire to be ruled by this spirit of hedonism 
and self-indulgence. This is the enemy's plan to build a stronghold in 
Canada, so that he might be able to work his corruption and destruction 
in much greater measure upon this land.

However, the Lord is with Canada and has many great plans for this
nation. And He has put a key within His people that can destroy the 
devils plans against your nation. In fact, He even wrote that key into 
your national anthem--God wants the believers in Canada to stand up in 
prayer and righteousness. He wants them to "stand on guard" for their 
nation through intercession and through the workings of righteousness 
in love. People of God in Canada, if you will rise to the challenge, 
as soldiers and prayer warriors in the army of God, you can guard 
your nation from the enemy's evil plans against it. The Lord has 
empowered Canadian believers to defeat the devil's strategies against 
your nation, but you have to stand up in prayer and stand on guard 
for Canada in order to accomplish this.

So, Canadian saints of God, consider this a call to prayer from the
Lord God almighty. As you pray, He will empower those prayers so that
your nation will be kept safe from the enemy's plans to destroy it.

You ask, how shall we pray? Well, the Lord has already put a guideline
for you to pray in your national anthem. Pray that God will keep your
nation glorious and free. That means that His righteousness and
purity will prevail in your nation, that the foundation of holiness
that is there will strengthen and that people's hearts will be drawn
to Him. Pray for His presence to inhabit your land and fill it with
His glory, because His presence and His glory will indeed make Canada 
a glorious nation. 

Then pray that the enemy's plans to bring people into bondage be 
prevented and destroyed, so that the people in Canada will remain free. 
And of course, pray for the unsaved to come to know Him, so that they 
might enjoy true liberty from the power of sin and death in Christ. 

Rise up, O believers in Canada and accept the Lord's invitation to
stand on guard for your nation through prayer and intercession. As 
you do, the Lord will empower your prayers and you will see His 
glory and His righteous and His blessings prevail in your nation.
