Horse Under Control

One morning recently I saw a vision. I saw a horse harnessed into a carriage and I was sitting next to the driver. Then I turned to the Lord: "What does this vision mean?" and as I began meditating on it, I felt the interpretation coming gradually.

The horse is a strong animal with its own mind controlling its body, when to go, where to go, when to stop, etc. But when trained, it surrenders its own will to its master, letting him to control it. This is like you surrendering your will to Jesus when you accept His Lordship and commit your life to Him. It seems to be an act once and for all. However, you retain your free will.

Just as the horse must repeat its surrender every time it accepts the bit into its mouth and every time it receives an instruction from its master, because it still has its power to disobey, we too, whenever the Holy Spirit tells you what to do, you must make a decision to obey.

So, in reality surrendering to the Lord is not an act once and for all, but an ongoing process. Be alert therefore and don't let your old, carnal self to get the better of you in due course, but keep your attitude of surrender.

Blessings,

John
