Course #22 description:

Title:
Creating A Culture For Answered Prayer

Instructor:
Teresa Seputis
Dates:
Mondays, beginning Feb 18, 2003; lasts for 12 weeks.

Course Contents/Description:
Why don't prayers get answered? A lot of prayers do not get answered because the person praying is not praying in faith -- they don't really expect God to hear and answer their prayers. And the reason they don't expect it is because they live in a culture that does not value the power of prayer. This culture comes with it's own mindsets or thinking patterns. And when a Child Of God prays, these thinking patterns are in the back of their mind, effecting their expectations. If the person praying does not really believe that the prayer will be answered, it is hard to pray effectively, it is hard to pray in faith. And if we don't pray in faith, then the chances of seeing God answer our prayer go way down.

So what is the solution to this dilemma? It is to create an atmosphere that is conducive to getting prayers answered -- to help change people's expectations so that they truly expect God to hear and answer their prayers. This teaching series will explore how to go about doing that.

Some of the characteristics of a culture that is conducive to seeing prayers get answered include:

  • developing intimacy with God
  • creating an atmosphere where prayer is valued
  • incorporating effective prayer into our church services
  • emphasizing forgiveness and unity
  • fostering faith
  • developing boldness in prayer
  • obedience
  • putting our finances in order
  • understanding and exploiting the value of testimonies
(The "Prayer-School" list will continue to function as it has been with other discussion as well, centered around topics pertaining to prayer and intercession; but in addition to the "regular stuff" we will be giving and receiving feedback about the information contained in each weeks teaching article.)
