Prophesying the Sermon (June 16, 1996)

I had an interesting experience today. During worship, the Lord began to speak a prophetic word to me. I went over to the sound booth to ask if there was a prophecy microphone set up so I could deliver the word. They did not happen to have one set up today. So I went back to my seat and wrote the prophecy down. (Our church has over 600 adults on a sunday morning and I have a soft voice, so I did not feel up to trying to deliver the prophecy without a microphone.) I thought I'd just put the prophecy away and persue it later, but God said that it must be dealt with this morning before the sermon began. I had no clue of how to deal with it, so I walked over our head pastor (who was preaching this morning) and gave it to him. I told him that I thought this was a word from the Lord for this morning, but since the prophecy microphone was not set up, I did now know what to do with it. He read it over and said to me, "I really believe this is a word from the Lord. Would you be willing to deliver it without a microphone?" I answered that my voice does not carry enough to do that. So he asked me if it was OK if he read it from the microphone after his sermon. I said sure and went back to my seat. I felt happy that I'd "dealt" with this prophecy before the sermon began, just like the Lord commanded me to. Then I put the whole thing out of my mind and went back to worship.

When the sermon began, my mouth literally dropped open. The prophecy tracked very closely with the sermon -- matching the main theme of the sermon and developing the same three points (in the same order) that the pastor developed in his sermon. The pastor had prepared his sermon earlier in the week and I just got that prophecy during the worship that morning. It kinda blew me away to have prophesied the sermon, even getting the main points in the same order as the pastor developed them in his sermon. I don't know why the Lord would do that, it has not happened to me before. I am guessing that He wanted to underscore that the teaching was from Him

What an experience!
