Not Easily Satisfied

(Saturday, May 30, 1998)

This is just a little object lesson the Lord taught me this morning through my dogs. I have two dogs (both of whom would be quite surprised to find out that they are dogs instead of people and full pledged members of the family). One dog, Salsa, is getting a bit older and needs some pain medication for the doggie equivalent of arthritus. We have had a long standing policy in the house that if either dog needs medication we coat it in peanut butter and both dogs get a little spoon of peanut butter.. .the one with the medicine in it going carefully to the correct dog. This works great as they are convinced it is a treat and they just love it when either of them has to take any medicine.

Anyhow, it was Saturday morning. They'd been outside to releive their bladdars and came in the house. Medicine time. (Also breakfast time.) So I opened the refrigerator and took out the jar of peanut butter.. both dogs went nuts, wagging their tails, drewling, begging, etc. I give them the peanut butter treat and both were quite happy.. they licked their chops and then bagin to beg again... after all, it was breakfast time.

I laughed at their antics and then teased them that they are simply not satified. They got their treat, wasn't that enough? They wanted breakfast too? These dogs are not easily satisfied.. they push for as much as they can get. And as I teased them, I also made their dog-food breakfast, and fed it to them.

Then God spoke to me and said, "Teresa, that is percisely how I want you you to be. Don't be satisfied when you get someting good from me, keep pushing in for more .. for I have so much to give you. Don't be satisfied the first time I give you a 'treat' ... keep pressing into Me for all that I have for you. For, just as I said in My word, I do delight to give you good things!" (Matt 7:7-11). "So don't get easily satisfied .. keep pressing in for all that I have for you and you will get it.. just like your dogs got their breakfast this morning. Be like them.. eagar and expectant for all that I have for you.
